Cycling in Nelson
I spend every Christmas in Nelson, where my family is, and I’m also lucky enough to get down there on business a few times a year. It’s a delightful place to ride, and if you’d like your next holiday to be in a sunny, pretty, bike-friendly place I can highly recommend it.
About LisaLisa Black started riding bikes again in 2010 after a 15 year hiatus. She’s still getting the hang of it and rides mainly along the waterfront and (carefully) through the city. Lisa has a new appreciation of shortcuts and alleyways, and rides a mixte frame because she can do it in a frock.

I’m with you about Nelson as a great cycling place, having just had a holiday there. The various local councils have done a fantastic job of linking cycleways, the roads have cycling lanes and the roads are full of people on bikes! After spending most of my biking time negotiating Wellington traffic chaos and made to feel like I use 2nd rate transport, Nelson is refreshing.
